This piece was done for Vanderbilt Magazine out of Nashville, Tennessee. The accompanying article was titled 'Big Shoulders, Deep Pockets, Tightened Belts' Vanderbilt Medical Center is being forced to carry the huge economic burden of picking up the medical costs of uninsured emergency accident victims. Where larger hospitals will refuse admittance of the uninsured, university hospitals have become the only source of emergency care for the uncovered.
Working on this project I realized how lucky I was that I don't have to worry about these things since I'm a Canadian. And because I'm immortal.
